We used to learn and read articles on how to manager subordinates. I was interested in a book, titled "Managing Your Boss" (unfortunately, I forgot the author - He is an Indian).
In the book, said that "Boss is also Human" (Boss juga manusia lho!). They need to be understood and managed also. To enhance your career, good communication and relationship with your boss, is a must.
Managing your boss starts with understanding them. Try to know your boss characteristics, stengths and also weaknesses. I put my personal perspective here, you can also learn your bosses' horoscope, in order to know their "Basic Characters"!
After understanding it, try to manage your self in order to "in line" with your bosses' condition. It is a very vital steps, since it needs a lot of efforts, especially "emotional quotient". Sometimes, we are trapped in negative mindset, which always see our bossess in bad perspectives. Do not negative energy influenced you. Why?
If you have negative thinking with your bosses, they can think more negatively to you. On the other hand, with positive thinking, the bossess are able to sense it more also.
Managing Your Boss puts stresses on how we are adapting to our superiors. It is not portraying how to "lick" them, but how to manage "communication" and "working relationship" with bosses. Slander or saying negative to our colleagues are not recommended.
Be Positive, try to always be Positive. Even it is easier to say than actioning it. do not give up. Worst case, even in situatioin you have to explain something bad, do it in positive ways.

i think the book is sponsored by bosses who want to spread the idea that sub-ordinates should always think positive.
